Fall 2019 Suter Science Seminars

Cancer therapy, gynecology, cerebrovascular diseases, and mosquitos are among the slated topics for this fall’s five at 91´óÉñ.

—Wednesday, Sept. 25, 4 p.m., Science Center 106, Exploring Arginine Methylation as a Cancer Therapy Target and as a Dissertation with Stephanie Miller Lehman, PhD, post-doctoral research fellow, University of Pennsylvania, Perelman School of Medicine.

—Saturday, Oct. 12, 9 a.m. Science Center 106, A Gynecologic Surgeon’s Perspective on a Career in Academic Medicine, Parenting, and the Pelvic Floor with Carolyn Weaver Swenson, MD, assistant professor of obstetrics and gynecology, University of Michigan.

—Wednesday, Nov. 13, 4 p.m. Science Center 106, Modeling Cerebrovascular Diseases in Mice with Chia-Yi (Alex) Kuan, MD, PhD, professor, department of neuroscience, University of Virginia School of Medicine.

—Wednesday, Dec. 4, 4 p.m. Science Center 106, Killer Mosquitoes: Predicting Vector Borne Disease Risks Now and in the Future with Leah R. Johnson, PhD, assistant professor of computational modeling and data analytics, Virginia Tech.

Named in honor of long-time 91´óÉñ biology professor, Daniel B. Suter (1920-2006), the Endowment in Biology was established in 1986 through the generous donations of alumni and friends and currently consists of over $1 million of invested funds. 91´óÉñ hopes to double the Suter Endowment in order to more adequately support distinguished faculty and to increase scholarship aid to deserving students.
