Teammates are often described as family, "a group of people who are generally not blood relations but who share common attitudes, interests, or goals". For Tim Callahan and his 91´óÉñ teammates, not only have they achieved their goals but his teammates gave him a family away from home during a difficult time.
Athletics
It had to end sooner or later. 91´óÉñ softball saw the best start in program history reach its peak on Wednesday, as No. 13 Randolph-Macon took a pair of games in Ashland to snap the Royals' 12-game winning streak.
In a showdown of the top two teams in the Continental Volleyball Conference, No. 11 Marymount had just enough to squeak past No. 8 91´óÉñ, taking a 3-2 decision in Harrisonburg.
Eastern Mennonite junior  (North Chesterfield, Va./Thomas Dale) has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Player of the Week. Earning the national award comes on the heels of Ragland being named the Continental Volleyball Conference Player of the Week for the second time this season.

91´óÉñ's volleyball men, ranked No. 9 in this week's AVCA national poll, took down No. 15 Juniata by a final of 3-1 in Yoder Arena, as the Royals kept pace with No. 11 Marymount atop the CVC standings
Eastern Mennonite took an impressive sweep from Mary Washington in Harrisonburg on Sunday, improving on the best start in program history. Now 12-0 on the year, the Royals get into ODAC play this week, starting with a twinbill at Randolph-Macon on Wednesday. The softball women also host Emory & Henry and Guilford next weekend.
The 91´óÉñ field hockey team has been given the National Academic Team Award by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA). The award recognizes the team GPA from the fall semester of the 2016-17 academic year.
