Becoming a CPA

Virginia requires 120 semester hours to sit for the CPA exam, however, you must have 150 semester hours to be licensed as a CPA.

Most graduates do not qualify to take the exam until they finish more courses. 91´óÉñ has an agreement with the masters program at nearby James Madison University that allows for completion of these additional credit hours. The graduate entrance exam ( GMAT) is waived for 91´óÉñ students graduating with a degree in accounting. We also encourage accounting majors to complete a masters program to fulfill the requirements and become a CPA.
